Cozy Layers for Transitioning to Spring

layers

Chambray shirt (also love this one) // gray cardigan (similar here) // felt fedora hat // jeans // purse // nude pumps

Happy Saturday!  Today I wanted to share this outfit with you and talk about layering your outfits for transitioning or changing weather.  Here in the midwest, if you don’t layer your clothing, you won’t survive! Okay maybe I’m being a bit dramatic but here we are very accustomed to weather changing drastically through the week or even the day. For example today it was 20 degrees when I left the house this morning and it was almost 50 degrees by the time I returned late afternoon. The weather changes so quickly here, which is why I take layering so seriously.

I think chambray shirts are so great for layering because they are warm, but not too heavy!  They are also the perfect mix of dressy and casual.  You can throw on a long sleeve shirt or a tank under it and a sweater or coat over it like I did here. Chambray is also super versatile and can be taken off or unbuttoned!  My favorite way to wear it is with a big chunky cardigan like the one I’m wearing here.  It was warmer earlier in the day and when it cooled off in the evening, I just threw my sweater back on!

Do hats count as a layer??  Even if they don’t, I love the extra style it adds to this look! I am constantly finding ways to incorporate this hat into my repertoire.  I think it is so hipster-chic. I am also not sure that is a thing either, but I like it!

This layered outfit is the perfect look for date night without looking like you are trying to hard.  Right after we took these photos my boyfriend and I went out to a new pizza restaurant we have been wanting to try.  I like to reward him for going out and taking blog photos for me!  Pizza is our favorite!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

xo,

Heather
